The athletes of the Pride of the Nation received a special visit during the week of preparation for the NBB semifinal series, at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, at the Gávea social headquarters. Cristiano Felício, former Flamengo player, surprised his former teammates on the morning of this Wednesday (27). A standout for the Chicago Bulls at the end of the NBA regular season, the American basketball league, the young talent took with him to the United States two Brazilian titles, a Liga das Américas and an Intercontinental Cup won with the Mais Querido.

"It's a source of great pride for us and for all of Brazil to have Cristiano as a standout in the NBA. He finished the season very well and is being praised by everyone. It's great to have him back in the environment where we worked so hard. Felício is a guy who deserves everything that's happening; it's all thanks to him. He used to spend a lot of time here on this court," said Felício's former coach, Flamengo's manager José Neto.

The athlete couldn't hide his excitement at being back in the gym that was the stage for many training sessions, learning experiences, and of course, fun and camaraderie with his former teammates.

"For me, it's an immense joy to be here at the club where I played for two years and made many friends and people who have helped me since I arrived. If I am where I am today, I owe a little to each friend and teammate here. I won titles for Flamengo that will always be kept in my heart," said Felício, who celebrated his growth in his first season in the NBA, playing for the traditional Bulls, Michael Jordan's team. "At the beginning I wasn't playing much, I kept training and in the end I gained more playing time and managed to finish the season very well, which helped me a lot," he stated.

Gegê, a personal friend of Felício, declared his support for Chicago - or for any franchise that Cristiano plays for.

"He's like a brother to me through basketball. I told him, before he came here, that if he wanted to be a champion he had to come play with me (laughs). He came to Brazil, we achieved a lot together for Flamengo, and seeing him in the NBA today is a huge source of pride for me. He knows he'll never lack support," the Flamengo point guard assured.

FlaBasquete's preparation for the semifinal series continues in Gávea until Thursday.
