Marcelo Vido already had a history in the Basketball World Cup. He was part of the only Brazilian team to win the championship until this Sunday (Sírio, in 1979) and also lost the competition to Maccabi Tel Aviv the following year. As a manager, more than thirty years later, he was part of the Mais Querido's 2014 Basketball World Cup triumph.

"We still have a lot to structure, but these achievements always help with this planning. I hope this winning streak continues, with Flamengo becoming increasingly structured," revealed the director.

I felt this achievement as an athlete for Sírio, but the following year we lost to Maccabi. And more than thirty years later, I achieved it as a manager. It's a job we've been doing since day one, in January 2013. There's still a lot to improve, a lot to achieve... But these achievements always help with this planning. And I hope this winning streak continues, becoming increasingly structured."

If you look at the last ten, fifteen years, there hasn't been a confrontation between Brazilian and European teams. And we've shown that there's good basketball here in Brazil, too. Flamengo is a respectable team that has shown on the court that it can beat anyone.

The team performed very well. A strong game, in transition and defending... (Jeremy) Pargo is exceptional; he could be soft in the NBA, but we managed to control the game. We had some difficult moments and relied on Laprovitola's mastery and Neto's work. We were under greater pressure because we had to win by four points. Even with eight points, a three-pointer and a foul could have changed everything. We did it, and it's fantastic. We have to celebrate.
