Douglas Corrêa is confident about the start of the season
A standout in the LDB, the pivot believes he could have more opportunities in José Neto's group
By Communication - Official Club Website - inIn difficult moments of a game, it's common to hear the phrase: "Give the ball to the guy and he'll take care of it." On Flamengo's team, which competes in the Basketball Development League (LDB), that player is Douglas Corrêa. There's no stopping the 2'04" center, who is the Mais Querido's top scorer in the competition. Now, with the start of the Adult season approaching (on October 4th, the team debuts in the State Championship against Campos), the mission is to also stand out among José Neto's men.
"I think this season will be a little better than last, as I'll have more opportunities. Last year was a good experience, but I believe I've improved in some aspects, and so more opportunities will come my way," said Douglas Corrêa, referring to the Adult team.
In the last edition of the Novo Basquete Brasil, won by Flamengo, the center appeared on the court in just eight games and averaged 3,7 minutes of play per game. He is currently training with the Adult group, as he will be in the State Championship opener, but will then travel with the U-22 group to Recife, where the fourth stage of the LDB will be played, starting on October 8th.
In the current edition of the LDB, Douglas Corrêa, just 22 years old, has improved with each match. He was selected to the Top 25 in all three stages of the competition. In the first, he finished eighth; in the second, fourth; and in the third, he took first place in the ranking.
"What helped me reach this top spot was the experience I had with some players last year, like Marcelinho and Marquinhos. I observed each of their characteristics closely and was able to mature on the court. Definitely, being around athletes of this level helped me a lot," concluded the player.
