Fifteen times Flamengo! This Sunday (04), the Pride of the Nation beat Tijuca, at Maracanãzinho, by 104 to 40, and won the fifth consecutive Rio de Janeiro championship. The star Olivinha, who scored 17 points in the match, secured his tenth title in the competition. In total, there are 46 trophies for Mengão in the State. Hettsheimeir was the top scorer, with 18 points.

Olivinha opened the scoring with a layup. Marquinhos soon hit a three-pointer, followed by two points from Rafael Mineiro, and Flamengo took a 7-0 lead. Olivinha and Mineiro scored again, as did Marquinhos, who sank two more three-pointers. The God of Race added three more, totaling six points, and FlaBasquete opened an impressive 23-0. Hettsheimeir scored, as did Leo Demetrio, and Yago, with a three-pointer, closed the period at 35-1. 

Gigante Hett opened the second quarter with 3 points, and Monstrinho Yago added two more. Marquinhos scored a three-pointer, giving Mais Querido a 40-point lead (43-3). Rafael Mineiro converted the final basket of the period, and Mengão went into halftime with a 64-12 lead. 

Upon returning, the advantage held throughout the third quarter. With a basket from Hettsheimeir, Flamengo scored 78 points, to Tijuca's 26. The period ended 83-26 for Flamengo. Ten minutes remained until the title, and Flamengo came back strong for the final period. All it took was to manage the score, and Flamengo secured its fifth consecutive state championship. 

Now, attention turns to the Resumption of the Americas! On October 30th, FlaBasquete will face the Champions League final, which, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be played as a single match at Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
