The red-and-black center will remain secure next season. Olivinha, who finished the NBB9 season averaging almost a double-double per game, renewed his contract with Flamengo for another year and will continue to defend the red-and-black colors.
Carlos Alexandre Rodrigues do Nascimento arrived at Flamengo in the 2012/13 season and was part of the team that won everything for the Mais Querido. Wearing the Manto Sagrado, the power forward collected titles in the Campeonato Carioca, four times in the Novo Basquete Brasil championship, the Liga das Américas, and the World Cup.
Last season, he was the top rebounder in the NBB9, finishing with an average of 9.5 points per game. He also scored 13.8 points in 33 games. In total, Olivinha finished the year with 859.4 minutes on the court, 454 points, 312 rebounds, 53 assists, and seven blocks.
"I'm very pleased with another contract renewal with Flamengo. I hope to work even harder to fight for titles again next season. We have big challenges right at the start of the season, like the Carioca and the South American Championships, and I'm very excited for another year. I sincerely hope we have great success, and you can be sure there will be plenty of work," Olivinha assured.
The number 16 joins coach José Neto, shooting guard Humberto and center JP Batista in the red-black squad confirmed for the 2017/18 season.
The Flamengo Regatas Club basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Estácio, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved Club.
