Eloy Vargas is Flamengo's newest signing for the 2019/20 season! The 30-year-old Dominican, a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of the national team, arrives at the Mais Querido after a stint with Metros de Santiago in the Dominican Republic.

The center was an NCAA champion alongside star Anthony Davis, played in the G-League for the New York Knicks' affiliate team, and also played for Fuenlabrada in Spain. Last year, before joining his country's basketball team, he played in the Argentine National League for Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro, where he excelled, averaging 15.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and being part of the ideal quintet.

In his first words as a red-black athlete, Eloy praised the fans:

"I'm really looking forward to joining the team and playing for the nation, which is very passionate about the club. I'm ready to help my teammates," he said.
