The Flamengo team has won five straight games in the NBB, three of them at home. In the most recent, played last week, Flamengo defeated Franca 79-74 in a thrilling duel at Tijuca Tênis Clube. The team currently sits in third place in the NBB.

Founded in 2001, the Texas-based Austin Spurs will be the first G-League team to play a game on Brazilian soil. Affiliated with the San Antonio Spurs, the franchise is a two-time development league champion (2012 and 2018) and has featured NBA legends on its roster, such as Danny Green, Boban Marjanovic, Aron Baynes, and Jonathon Simmons. Some of Gregg Popovich's squad this season have also worn the Austin jersey, including Dejounte Murray, Bryn Forbes, Lonnie Walker IV, Davis Bertans, Drew Eubanks, and Chimezie Metu.
Walker IV and Metu played for the team this season, averaging 16,2 and 13,9 points per game, respectively. Eubanks, who averaged 17,2 points per game, has two years left on his contract with Austin.
This season in the G-League, the Austin Spurs are only 9th in the Western Conference with 16 wins and 20 losses.

"We've been mapping the Spurs for a while now, but it's difficult because they're practically San Antonio's second team (in the NBA). So they can go there at any time to pull someone. Even with frequent player changes, we've managed to study about 23 players. We'll definitely find a very athletic team, one that plays physically and with individual quality. Perhaps the tactical aspect isn't the main one because they have a lot of turnover, but it's undoubtedly very tough, with young players looking for a place on the first team. I have a lot of confidence in the players we have, in their experience not only to play in the World Cup, but to face North Americans like this. Anderson and Marquinhos have already played in the NBA, others have already tried out in the G-League. I have a lot of confidence in them," said the coach.
