On Tuesday night (18.11), Flamengo lost its first match in this edition of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB). Playing away from home, Flamengo fought for victory until the last second, in Belo Horizonte, but Minas scored 78 to 76 on the scoreboard. The next challenge for Mais Querido will be against Uberlândia, this Thursday (20.11), at 20 pm, at the Homero Santos gym.
The match began with a three-pointer from Marcelinho Machado, and Laprovittola led the way in assists, with four in the first period. Flamengo held the lead until Minas Gerais pulled away to a 10-8 lead. The first quarter ended with Minas Gerais leading by a narrow margin: 17-14. The second period was a tight affair. Herrmann's three-pointer put Flamengo ahead 20-19, but Flamengo again turned the score around to 21-20. Minas Gerais opened up a larger lead, but went into halftime with just a single lead: 35-33.
Upon returning to the court, the score, which had previously been 35-29 for Minas, was now 43-37 for the Red-Blacks. But the game remained fiercely contested, with both teams taking turns leading, and the Minas team came back again. Flamengo went into the final quarter trailing only one point: 54-53 to Minas. The match was very even until the final second, but despite winning the second and third quarters, the Red-Blacks lost 78-76.
