The U-23 Crias da Gávea team defeated Niterói 90-68 at 18 p.m., and the main FlaBasquete team defeated Municipal 109-40 at 20 p.m., both at Maracanãzinho, on their way to becoming seventeenth state champions. This is the Pride of the Nation's 17th consecutive state title, the 48th in its history.

The competition was to be held in Gávea, during this last week, but was postponed until this Sunday (2) due to the heavy rains that hit the state of Rio de Janeiro. 

Flamengo U-23 x Niterói

The opening match of the night began with Flamengo U-23 defeating Niterói 90-68. Led by Matheus Leoni and Rafael Rachel, standouts for Flamengo in the match, coach Christiano Pereira's team started the game successfully in the basket, scoring when they served the ball to their centers. Later in the match, Flamengo hit the ground running with three-pointers and maintained a secure lead. The scores were 21-12; 24-21; 23-18; and 22-17.

Flamengo x Municipal

The second match of the night marked the Pride of the Nation's debut in the 22/23 season. And as expected, the red-and-black team defeated Municipal 109-40 and became the seven-time state basketball champion. Flamengo was overwhelming from the start, scoring 24 consecutive unanswered points to open the game. Loku Cuello and Gabriel Jaú, debutants of the night, led the way with 18 points each, followed closely by Rafael Hettsheimeir, who scored 16 points in his return for Mengão. The scores were 30-9; 18-9; 36-12; and 25-10.

The tournament's MVP was Rafael Rachel, who played both FlaBasquete matches in this doubleheader. Another winner of the night was fellow newcomer Penka Aguirre, the state's all-time assist leader.
