The tough defeat suffered against Brasília in the last round did not shake FlaBasquete. On a night of inspired play, with a tight paint presence and a well-calibrated offense, José Neto's team easily defeated Mogi das Cruzes 83-57. With this result, the team remains the leader of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), with 12 wins in 14 games.

"We knew it would be a tough game. The last game was complicated; we didn't go in with the attitude it required and we came away with a tough defeat. We came here very focused on getting back on the winning track, and that's what happened. I dare say that Mogi won't just score 57 points in an entire game until the end of this championship," said Olivinha.

The number 16 jersey was the top scorer and achieved a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't just the power forward's star that shone at the Professor Hugo Ramos gymnasium – the collective game made the difference. Seven more players scored to build the large score: Marcelinho (8), Pedrinho (6), Lelê (8), Ramon (8), Marquinhos (17), Mineiro (6) and Batista (8), who also came close to a double-double with nine rebounds. Long-range shots also made the difference: 12 successful shots out of 24 attempts.

In the first quarter, Flamengo opened up a 10-0 lead in the opening minutes. At the end of the period, the advantage was eight points (20-12). In the second and third quarters, their superiority on the court continued, and Flamengo extended their lead by another 16 points (61-37). In the final ten minutes, the game became more balanced, but Mogi never came close to turning the score around.

Mengão's next game will be on Saturday (21), at 14 pm, against Franca, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. Tickets are already on sale online, as well as tickets for Flamengo x Bauru, on Tuesday (24). Click here and secure your spot!
