First time
The match began with Flamengo taking the lead – São José had a 2-10 lead in the opening minutes. But two three-pointers from Kayo Gonçalves and Jhonatan brought Flamengo closer to their rivals. São José's performance declined, while Shaq Johnson and Ruan, with a beautiful assist from Balbi, extended the lead for Flamengo. The young center scored the equalizer (15-15) two minutes into the second quarter. Flamengo regained the lead, but the Argentine point guard and Jordan Williams each scored two points to give Flamengo a 21-20 lead.
The second period started out choppy and with poor shooting from both sides. Midway through the quarter, Kayo Gonçalves hit a shot from the perimeter to hit his second three-pointer of the match, but São José soon leveled the score again (26-26), marking the beginning of Flamengo's worst period of the game so far. Flamengo's performance dropped, and São Paulo opened up a 10-point lead (26-36). Alexey and Jordan Williams scored for Mais Querido, but the team went into halftime leading 44-33.
Second time
Flamengo continued to seek a comeback in the third quarter. A beautiful dunk by Jordan Williams thrilled the nation, but São José continued to hold on to a partial victory (42-50). The American raised the energy on the court once again with a basket and a foul in the paint five minutes into the final period. It was through the red-and-black scorer Alexey Borges that Mengão tied the score once again (50-50); subsequently, Kayo and Siewert extended the lead and gave Gustavinho's team a breathing space (54-50). A triple by Alexey took the Rubro-Negro to the final quarter with a 60-52 lead.
And there was no shortage of excitement in the final period. As the clock neared its final whistle, the match became even more intense, and the lead swung back and forth a few times. Despite showing great determination until the final second, including a shot from the perimeter by Balbi, FlaBasquete ultimately lost thanks to a decisive three-pointer by Vieta at a key moment.
