atuDominating from start to finish, Mengão beat Brasília 115-58 on Sunday morning (31), at Maracanãzinho, for the NBB. Marquinhos was the top scorer of the match with 19 points.
The game
The first quarter began with Orgulho da Nação imposing its rhythm. Chuzito and Hettsheimeir scored the first points for Flamengo in the quarter. With seven minutes remaining, Chuzito hit the first three-pointer for "Mais Querido." Olivinha and Leo Demetrio also hit shots from outside the perimeter for Mengão. The quarter ended with Flamengo ahead: 29-22.
Early in the second quarter, Marquinhos scored another three-pointer for the red-and-black team. With a healthy lead, Mengão had the confidence to work on its attacking plays. By the end of the quarter, the Pride of the Nation had opened up a substantial lead: 63-36.
The Mais Querido's first two points of the third quarter came from Leo Demetrio. Lucas Martinez and Yago, who were playing well, converted three-pointers for Fla. With a margin of almost forty points, Mengão finished the period leading 88-46.
In the first minute of the fourth quarter, Yago hit another three-pointer. Matheus Maciel, a Gávea native, entered the game and also showed his calibrated skills, scoring another three-pointer for the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved). Dominating the match from start to finish, the "Pride of the Nation" closed the match 115-58, securing another excellent victory at Maracanãzinho.
