Flamengo vs. Mogi das Cruzes. Five matches in this edition of the NBB CAIXA, with one thing in common: all of them were decided in the final moments. The Pride of the Nation has a strong record. So far, Flamengo has won three matches, two in the qualifying round and one in the semifinals, and Mogi das Cruzes has won two, both in the playoffs. On Saturday (14), at 14:10 pm, the teams will face off again for the fourth game of the series, which promises to be another thrilling and tightly contested match. The match, in São Paulo, will be broadcast live on RedeTV! and SporTV.
Qualifying: two wins and early leadership
In the NBB CAIXA qualifying round, Orgulho da Nação faced Mogi in the 14th round at Tijuca Tênis Clube, and in the 29th and penultimate round at Professor Hugo Ramos Gymnasium. On the first occasion, the team coached by José Neto led for almost 40 minutes, but always with Mogi close behind. With just over two minutes remaining, Mogi managed to come back to 75-73, but the Red-Black team recovered and closed the score at 79-77.
At the opponent's home, Flamengo's victory, again tight, by 88 to 85, guaranteed the early leadership of the classification, which gave Mais Querido the advantage of being able to decide the playoff series at home - in case of victory over Mogi, on Saturday (14), the fifth game will be at the red-black command.
Semifinal back and forth
The best-of-five series began in Mogi, with the home team winning 86-81. Their opponents held off Flamengo's fourth-quarter comeback and left the court with a positive result. Back in Rio de Janeiro, the Rubro-Negro relied on the strength of their squad and the recovery of Olivinha, who came off the bench to score 17 points, to win 81-71 in a packed arena. This was the closest match between the two teams in the NBB8.
With the series tied at 1-1, the teams returned to Tijuca for the third match, but this time Mogi prevailed after four evenly contested quarters. With less than a minute remaining, the scoreboard read 77-76, but power forward Lucas Mariano pulled off a brilliant performance, converting a three-pointer and a basket followed by a foul, making it 83-77 for Mogi.

The red-black team is training hard in preparation for the next challenge in the series and will remain in Rio de Janeiro until Thursday. The team will travel to São Paulo on Friday morning (13), and, already in Mogi, will train at night.
Flamengo will be looking for a place in the final and only a victory on Saturday (14) will do to take the decision to the fifth game, which would be at home, on May 17, Tuesday. If they manage to get past Mogi, the red-black team will repeat the final of last season (2014/2015) with Bauru, who qualified last Tuesday (10) after beating Brasília in the series by 3 to 0.
