The red-black basketball team lost at home to Bauru by 74 to 89, this Saturday (9.03), at Tijuca Tênis Clube, in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). José Neto's team was ahead on the scoreboard for much of the game, but only by one point. In the last quarter, the team did not play well on defense and ended up losing with a partial of 12 to 28.

"The team's attitude on the court today was completely different from the first round. We still have a lot of ground to burn in this lead, but we can't count on it," lamented point guard Gegê. Flamengo leads the NBB with three wins, but has played one game more than the runner-up.

Marquinhos was one of Flamengo's standout players, playing during the team's best moments of the match. Bauru, which had lost six consecutive matches against the "Mais Querido," sought to neutralize the winger to improve its performance in the most evenly matched moments. Despite the strong marking, he was the Flamengo's top scorer with 19 points, the same score as Caio. "We missed a lot of scoring. It's very difficult to play against a team like Bauru without a defense," analyzed coach Neto, commenting on the main reason for the defeat.

Olivinha (11 rebounds) and Benite (4 assists) were the other standouts for the Rubro-Negro. Mengão returns to the court next Friday, against Pinheiros, at 20:05 pm. The match will be in the Liga de las Américas, in Argentina.
