U-22 team defeats strong American team
Gegê, Douglas, Chupeta and Diego are highlights in the victory over Augustana University

Flamengo's under-22 team, which leads the Basketball Development League with a 100% record, remains unbeaten. Last night (August 12.08), at the Gávea social headquarters in Rio, the red-and-blacks won the friendly against Augustana University by 83 to 72.
"Our opponent played with intensity because their team is very good. They defend strongly and put a lot of pressure on the ball. They were up by ten points, but we switched from man-to-man to zone marking and managed to erase their advantage. Gegê, Diego, Chupeta, and Douglas played well. They already play like adults and are ready for the senior team. With this quartet working so well, we managed to gain a 12-point lead," explained Paulo Chupeta, coach of the red-and-black team.
Flamengo is the only club to have won every LDB match after 14 rounds. Their next match in this competition will be against Goiânia on August 28th, in a match to be held at the Gávea stadium.
