The match between Flamengo and Basquete Cearense pitted the last two teams remaining undefeated in the Brazilian Development League against each other. Now, only the "Mais Querido" can boast of being the only team with a 100% record. At the Olympic Arena in São Sebastião do Paraíso, Minas Gerais, Paulo Chupeta's players won for the eighth consecutive time. With 22 points, Douglas led the way in the 68-63 victory.

"Today's game was very tough, especially because we were playing against a very young team and they were playing with older players. They quickly opened up a 16-point lead early in the match, and that threatened our stability. I called a timeout and talked to my players. I told them that the path to victory was defense. We came back on the court with a different attitude, and our class prevailed in the end. I'd like to highlight the performance of Gabriel Andrade, who stole a lot of balls and destabilized the opponent's attack. We came back early in the fourth quarter and won by a very small margin," said Paulo Chupeta. The coach also took the opportunity to talk about Thursday's match (July 04.07):

"For the game against Pinheiros, we expect another very difficult match, because they have a well-reinforced team. We have some absences in this first round, like Gegê, who is in the new squad. Even so, Chupeta, Douglas, and Diego, who trained extensively with José Neto in the 2012/2013 NBB season, are giving the team an extra boost. Douglas, for example, was practicing defense against Caio Torres and Shilton, who are two very strong players. This has helped us a lot in this competition."
