Flamengo's under-13, under-14, and under-19 basketball teams took to the court last week for the State Championships. The teams played their final matches before the competition's two-month hiatus due to the Olympic Games.
The under-19s took to the court on Sunday (19) to face Comary, in Teresópolis. The Mais Querido beat the home team 69 to 44. On Tuesday (21) it was the under-13s' turn to play against the Clube Central de Niterói team. The little ones also beat their opponent, by a score of 67 to 32.
The under-19 boys played again on Wednesday (22), this time against Tijuca. Once again Flamengo won, beating Tijuca by 51 to 40. Flamengo's under-14 team also faced Tijuca on the same day, confirming the favoritism of the Clube da Gávea, closing the score at 73 to 30.
Flamengo returns to play in the State Youth Basketball Championship in September.
The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Banco Bonsucesso and Brasil Brokers – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
