Flamengo's youth basketball team continues to do well in the State Championship. The youth team crushed Municipal 84-31 last Sunday (May 22.05). The Infanto team also defeated their rival: 62-47. The youth team wasn't as lucky and lost its unbeaten streak in the competition: 67-62. All three matches were played at the Municipal Club gymnasium.

The youth team dominated the entire match. The red-and-black team's top scorer was Heitor Silva with 17 points, just one point behind the game's leading scorer, Jeferson Rodrigues of Municipal.

In the children's game, the game was evenly matched until the second quarter. From then on, Flamengo managed to open the scoring and finish with a 16-point lead over their opponent. The top scorer was Daniel Lorio, from the Gávea team, with 26 points.

The children's game was a close affair from start to finish. Flamengo managed to close the gap late in the match, but couldn't overturn Municipal's lead. Municipal's Fernando Nogueira led the way with 24 points. For the Gávea team, Henrique Machado stood out with 20 points.

Next Wednesday (26.05), the youth team takes to the court against Nova Iguaçu, in Nova Iguaçu. The children's team faces the same team, Saturday (28.05), in Gávea. The children's and children's teams face Central, on Sunday (29.05), at Clube Central.
