Let's get to the facts:

- The "Anderson Varejão project" at Flamengo began in January 2018 and, from the outset, planned to exploit the player's image for marketing and licensing purposes. Unfortunately, the expected return on this project didn't materialize, and as a result, the contractual fees far exceeded those typically paid to Brazil's most well-known basketball players.

- Flamengo had been in talks with the athlete's agent since the NBB 11 finals to negotiate his future with the CRF. During the competition's finals, the basketball management even held in-person meetings with his representative in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, contradicting what the athlete had said on social media. 

The club's goal for this upcoming season was to keep the player on our roster, eliminating the marketing project and, consequently, reducing his income so that it would be closer to the salaries of other players on our championship team. It's worth noting that this proposed reduction, if considered for the entire season, would be much smaller than the 70% claimed by the player, and that his salary would be one of the highest in the entire group.
