With the best record in the first stage of the South American Basketball League, Flamengo will have the opportunity to play the semifinal stage in front of its fans in Rio de Janeiro, at a well-known venue. The International Basketball Federation has decided that Rio and Asunción, Paraguay, will host this stage. The semifinal will take place from November 20th to 22nd. In Rio de Janeiro, the match will be held at the Jeunesse Arena in the Olympic Park. The stage for Flamengo's important achievements, Jeunesse saw the Mais Querido lift the Interclub World Cup trophies in 2014, as well as three editions of the NBB, in 2009, 2013 and 2014. 

At this stage of the competition, the teams are divided into two groups of four teams each. Flamengo is in Group F, alongside the Brazilians. Bauru and Minas Tênis Clube and the Argentine Instituto. Group E will have its matches played from November 13th to 15th and features the teams Franca, Argentines Quimsa and Libertad and Paraguayan Olimpia.

Flamengo is seeking its second South American League title. In 2009, the Pride of the Nation lifted the trophy by defeating Quimsa 98-96 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The winner of this year's edition will qualify for the League of the Americas. 

The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo receive funding from their sponsors – thinkseg, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Anjo da Guarda Rubro-Negro Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved.
