Flamengo will meet its fans for the first time in the ninth season of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) this Thursday (17), at 21 pm, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, and José Neto will be able to count on point guard Ricardo Fischer and young winger Lelê in his rotation. The two players, who were recovering from their injuries, return to the court after almost a month in treatment and will debut with the Sacred Mantle in the NBB, against Pinheiros.
FlaBasquete counts on its Sixth Player: you! Tickets are sold on-site starting at 18 PM, and online through the Guiche Web website.
Fischer, who suffered a strain in his left hamstring during the second game of the State Championship semi-final against Botafogo on October 19th, highlighted the fact that it was his first game wearing the Flamengo jersey in an NBB game and his desire to start the championship well.
"It's my first game back after almost three weeks, but I'm in great physical shape. It's my debut wearing the Flamengo jersey in the NBB and I hope to start off on the right foot, with a victory, together with our fans," said Fischer.
The point guard traveled with the team to São Paulo for the games against Bauru and Franca, but did not play. Fischer made his debut for Flamengo against Vasco, in the second round of the State Championship, and has been an important part of the squad ever since.
Meanwhile, under-22 player Lelê, who is part of the FlaBasquete senior team, was injured in a court training session on October 9th and suffered a sprained right knee. Now recovered, the forward commented on the opportunity to play with the senior team.
"We always have to take advantage of the opportunities that Neto gives us. He has a philosophy of not having a bench, so he's going to rotate everyone and you always have to be ready to play. When the rotation of the senior players gets tired, we younger players have to be prepared to come in strong," explained Lelê.
Lelê is one of the athletes benefiting from Anjo da Guardo Rubro-Negro, the largest national campaign for raising income tax from individuals. Click here to learn more and help promote Olympic sports at Flamengo and in Brazil.
José Neto, coach of the Flamengo team, made it clear how important the return of the two athletes to the courts is.
"At this moment, when we manage to bring in a player who was out, it's very important. We can increase rotation, we can play with more intensity, we can make the team have a broader squad. Fischer and Lelê are players who come to contribute a lot. They come to contribute in all these aspects and with time they will gain the rhythm of the team," said Neto.
