Flamengo will have, this Friday (29.04), the first chance to secure a spot in the semifinals of the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). Winning the best of five quarterfinals by 2 x 1, the red-black team faces Bauru, at 20:30 pm, in Bauru, and could close out the series. Sportv will broadcast the match live. If the São Paulo team wins, the fifth and final game will be played on Sunday (01.04), in Rio de Janeiro.
After being at a disadvantage in the playoffs, with an away defeat (87 x 85), Flamengo turned the series around with two victories at the HSBC Arena (79 x 71 and 79 x 73, respectively).
"With each game, we change the team's offensive and defensive tactics. The idea is to maintain the defensive intensity of the last two games and improve some offensive aspects, especially in the final moments of the game," explained Argentine coach Gonzalo Garcia.
The team will still be without center Bábby, who suffered a lower back strain in the first match. The player remained in Rio de Janeiro for treatment.
"We expect another very difficult match, as it has been so far. Bauru grows a lot playing at home, with the support of its fans. But we are prepared. Flamengo has been improving with each game and we will enter the court to seek classification without the need for a fifth game", said point guard Helio, a standout player in the last match, Wednesday (27.04), in Rio.
