Fla seeks eighth consecutive victory in the NBB
Championship leaders, the red-blacks face Goiânia away from home this Thursday
By Communication - Official Club Website - inAfter the victory against Franca on the 18th, Flamengo achieved its seventh consecutive win and finished the first half of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) in the lead. Next Thursday (January 23rd), the senior team will take to the court against Goiânia, to defend its undefeated record in 2014, away from home, at the Rio Vermelho gymnasium, at 8 pm.
Coach José Neto believes that, even with a seven-game unbeaten streak, the team still has a lot of room for improvement.
"I think the team is still on an upward trajectory, we're still finding our balance, we still have a lot to add, besides the players who are returning from injury and the way we play. We're fitting our style of play and achieving good victories. We have to apply our work plan to always get better. We still have a lot to achieve," he explained.
The coach preaches humility and focus for Flamengo to achieve more good results in the championship.
"One thing I think we shouldn't do is look at either our position or our opponent's in the standings. One round can change everything, the teams are well balanced, everyone has a chance to win. The Goiânia team is a team that poses a threat playing at home, we have to work hard to get the victory over them," he concluded.
Flamengo, the current champion of the competition, is the undisputed leader of the NBB, with 29 points and an 81.3% winning percentage.
