Already qualified for the finals of the South American League, Flamengo ended its participation in the semifinals of the competition (second phase) with another victory. On Thursday night (29.11), the team defeated Tiburones de Vargas (VEN), 101 x 87, at the Pinheiros gym, finishing in first place in group F, with a 100% record (three wins in three games).

The final quadrangular will be played from December 4th to 6th in Corrientes, Argentina. In search of the second championship, Flamengo will face the home team, Peñarol, also from Argentina, and the winner of Pinheiros x Brasília, who face each other this Thursday (29.11).

"Today the score didn't matter much, but Flamengo always goes out on the court to win. We had the goal of leaving here with three wins, and we achieved it. The team deserves congratulations. I think our defense was the main foundation in the games. The team understood that without a strong defense, you can't win," said coach José Neto.

Despite securing their spot with a round to spare, Flamengo took to the court at full strength to face the Venezuelans. And the red-and-black team dominated the entire game. The scores for the four quarters were: 28-20; 48-39; 77-63; and 101-87. Olivinha scored 20 points. The top scorer was Manuel Barrios of the Tiburones.

Flamengo returns to Rio de Janeiro this Friday (11/30) and on Sunday (12/02) they head to Corrientes. The team will still be without captain Marcelinho, who suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"Marcelinho is a player that any team misses. I hope his absence motivates us to do our best and give him a chance to play in the NBB final playoffs," said the coach.

Flamengo started with: Kojo (14), Benite (12), Marquinhos (19), Olivinha (20) and Caio Torres (11). Entered: Duda (3), Gegê (4), Shilton (-), Feliz (9), Diego (3) and Douglas (6).
