Flamengo will have two important challenges this Tuesday (26.04) and Wednesday (27.04), against Bauru, at 20 pm, at HSBC Arena, in Barra da Tijuca (RJ). After leaving at a disadvantage in the best of five quarterfinals of the NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil), the team seeks to recover in the series to remain alive in the fight for the title. In the first game, played last Sunday (24.05), in Bauru, the São Paulo team came out on top and won by just two points (87 x 85).
Finishing fourth in the qualifying round—with the same record as the top three—Flamengo has home-court advantage in the quarterfinals against Bauru, who finished fifth. Therefore, the next two games will be in Rio de Janeiro. If necessary, the fourth game will be played on April 29.04 in Bauru, and the fifth on May 01.05 in Rio.
Tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday's games cost R$30. Students with ID pay half price (R$15).
The defeat in the first game against Bauru did not shake Flamengo, who remain motivated in search of the tournament's second title (they were champions in the first edition of the NBB, in 2009).
"In the playoffs, anything can happen; every game is tough, especially away from home. Now we have the chance to turn things around in front of our fans, and I believe this will be an extra motivation for the team," said coach Gonzalo Garcia.
For Tuesday's match, Rubro-negro has one doubt. Center Bábby suffered a lower back strain in the first half of Sunday's game (May 24.05) and will undergo tests on Monday night (April 25.04). His lineup will only be confirmed moments before the game.
