After two home wins over the weekend, against São José and Limeira, respectively, Flamengo will have two more challenges this week in the interior of São Paulo, for the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). The first of them, this Tuesday (25.01), will be against Araraquara, at 20 pm, in Matão. On Thursday (27.01), the red-black team faces Franca.
Flamengo leads the competition with an 80% success rate (eight wins in 10 games). Araraquara, in turn, occupies 12th place with a 30,77% success rate (four wins in 13 games).
For both matches, the team will be without Wagner (left knee meniscus injury) and Jefferson (right thigh adductor injury), who remained in Rio de Janeiro undergoing treatment. Flamengo will also be without American David Teague and rookie Fred Duarte, known as Varejinho. This is because the matches against Araraquara and Franca were scheduled for November but had to be postponed due to the South American League finals, and both players were not registered with the team at the time.
"There will be two very tough games in the space of three days and we will need to be very focused. Flamengo has been growing in the competition and adapting every day to the style of the new coach (Argentine Gonzalo Garcia). We will continue like this," said winger/guard Marcelinho.
