The match that concluded Flamengo's participation in the third round of the State Basketball Championship was very competitive. On Saturday night (19.10), Macaé, playing at home and with the support of the fans, played a balanced game against Mais Querido, but was unable to avoid a 80-74 defeat. With this result, José Neto's team remains the only one with a 100% record in the competition and is waiting to find out which club will be its opponent in the finals.
"The game was balanced throughout. To impress the fans, Macaé came out swinging. Until the end of the match, the two teams alternated on the scoreboard, but in the final minutes, Laprovittola scored twice and we opened up a further lead," said winger Diego Marques, who was on the court for about 20 minutes.
The State Championship finals are scheduled for October 28th and 30th. Flamengo's opponent remains to be seen, as Campos and Macaé will face off next week in the semifinals. Regardless of the opponent, Flamengo will play the second leg of the finals at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, located at the Gávea headquarters.
