Flamengo is the state champion in children's basketball. The team (under-13) led by coach Nelson Mourão won the title by defeating Fluminense 70-67, on Saturday afternoon (19.11), at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, in Gávea. With the result, the Rubro-negro closed the best-of-three series of the final at 2-1.
The three matches were evenly matched. In the first, Flamengo prevailed: 67-62. Fluminense tied the series with a 70-65 victory. The final was closely contested, with both teams alternating the lead. The game was decided in the last minute, with a show by Flamengo's Bernardo Campos, who topped the scoreboard with 35 points.
