Flamengo is defeated away from home and the decision is left to Rio

Flamengo missed another chance to secure a spot in the NBB semifinals. On Tuesday night (08.05), playing at their opponent's home ground, the Rubro-negro was defeated by Uberlândia, 87 x 78. Now, the best-of-five quarterfinal series is tied at 2 x 2 and the decisive game takes place next Friday (11.05), at 19 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. Whoever wins advances to the next phase.
Flamengo managed to open up a 2-0 lead in the quarterfinals: they won the first game, in Uberlândia, 110-108, after two extra times, and the second, in Tijuca, 70-63. In the third game, at the same location, the Minas Gerais team came out on top: 77-60.
On Tuesday (08.05), Flamengo's highlight was Marcelinho, with 19 points. Kammerichs scored 15. The top scorer was Cipolini, from Uberlândia, with 22 points.
After a slow start, when Uberlândia took a 20-9 lead, Flamengo mounted a strong comeback, scoring nine straight points and ending the first quarter just two points down: 20-18. Flamengo turned the tables on the first attack of the second quarter, with a three-pointer from Hélio. They then went up by 12 points (46-34). The home team still attempted a comeback, but Flamengo went into halftime leading 46-43, with 17 points from Marcelinho.
The third quarter was evenly matched, with both teams alternating the lead, ending 59-57 for the Minas Gerais team. In the final quarter, despite the close game, Uberlândia prevailed, winning 87-78.
"The team started playing well and continued that way until the last three minutes of the second quarter, when we scored 12 points. Then, due to some poor decisions on offense and defensive lapses, we let them back into the game. Then, in the second half, the team continued to do well, holding the game, but in the end, we couldn't find the right balance and lost. We played well, but small defensive details and shots that didn't go in made the difference. Now we have to think about the fifth home game advantage, and we need to take advantage of it," said Kammerichs.
