Flamengo is defeated by Paulistano away from home

In the first match of the second round of NBB 4, Flamengo was defeated by Paulistano, 90 x 86, on Thursday night (26.01), at Ginásio Antônio Prado Junior, in São Paulo. With the result, Flamengo remains in first place in the table, tied with Uberlândia and Pinheiros, with 12 wins in 15 games. However, it loses to Minas Gerais and São Paulo in the tiebreaker criteria.
Marcelinho, with 19 points, and Kammerichs, who recorded a double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds), were Flamengo's standouts. Betinho, from Paulistano, was the game's top scorer with 29 points. On Saturday (January 28.01), the Rubro-negro faces Pinheiros, at 14 pm, in São Paulo.
Thursday's match marked the debut of American power forward Chris Hayes, who was signed to replace Teichmann, who was on medical leave. The American contributed 10 points. Flamengo, on the other hand, lost center Caio early in the game, who sprained his left ankle. They were also without point guard Hélio, who left the court at the end of the third quarter with cramps.
With defensive issues, Flamengo trailed throughout the first half. The first quarter ended 26-16 in favor of the São Paulo team. Flamengo only managed to close the gap at the end of the second quarter, with a three-pointer from Duda, making it 42-43. But the Paulistano team went into halftime leading 49-46.

However, Paulistano opened the scoring again and finished the quarter with a 12-point lead: 75-63. In the final quarter, Flamengo again closed the gap and had chances to take the lead, but the Paulistanos were on a better day and won 90-86.
"Flamengo didn't get off to a good start, and Paulistano scored a high score in the first half, and we also had problems with our defense. We knew the difficulties of this away game, and we also lost two key players. We really weren't having a good day, and they, in turn, were inspired. Now it's time to forget what happened and focus on Pinheiros," said captain Marcelinho.
