Flamengo ended its participation in the fourth qualifying stage of the Basketball Development League (LDB) with a defeat that didn't take it off the top spot. Last Saturday (October 12.10), at its opponent's home, the 70-61 score in favor of Sport Recife wasn't what was expected, but the "Mais Querido" remained ahead of second-place Basquete Cearense, with a three-point lead in the overall standings (66 to 63). In 24 matches in the LDB, they won 22 and lost only two.

Paulo Chupeta's team played again without three starters: Gegê, Diego, and Douglas, who were in Rio for adult state championship games. Point guard Chupeta was the standout performer, leading the red-and-black team with 16 points. Another standout was Alef, who scored 14 points, nine of them in the first quarter alone.

In the fifth stage of the LDB qualifying phase, Flamengo will play four games. The first will be on October 31st against Tijuca, at a venue yet to be determined.

Victory over Náutico

The day before the loss to Sport Recife, Friday (11.10), Flamengo faced Náutico and won the match 74 to 66. The name of the game was the shooting guard Alef, who scored 19 points and finished the match as the leading scorer. Returning from injury, Chupeta also shone and left the court with good numbers: 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.
