Fla faces a direct rival in the fight for the NBB leadership

Flamengo returns to the court this Saturday (January 28.01) against one of its direct rivals in the battle for sole leadership of the NBB4. The red-and-black team faces Pinheiros at 14 pm at the Henrique Vilaboin Gymnasium in São Paulo. Sportv will broadcast the match live. Flamengo has 12 wins in 15 games (80% success rate) and is tied for the lead in the competition with Uberlândia and Pinheiros. The team from Gávea, however, has the worst result in the first tiebreaker, head-to-head, having lost to the Minas Gerais and São Paulo teams in the first round.
In the last round, on Thursday (26.01), Flamengo left the isolated leadership of the tournament after being beaten by Paulistano, 90 x 86, away from home. But it can return to the position this Saturday. To do so, it has to beat Pinheiros and hope that Uberlândia loses to Limeira, at 19 pm, in Limeira.
Their next opponent was responsible for Flamengo's first defeat in the competition: 84-89, at the Tijuca gymnasium, in the second round of the first phase. Therefore, the team knows that every care is never enough, especially in an away game.
"It will be another difficult match, just like all the others so far. We know that the NBB is a very balanced championship, so away wins are very important. We're going after the win, and to do that, we have to fix some details that we didn't get right against Paulistano, like the defense," explained captain Marcelinho.
Center Caio, who sprained his left ankle early in the match against Paulistano, is doubtful for the next game.
