Hot on the heels of the NBB leader, Flamengo returns to the court this Thursday (April 23.04), after the Carnival break. The team faces Joinville at 21 pm at the Tijuca Tennis Club Gymnasium. SPORTV will broadcast the match live. Flamengo is second in the overall standings, with 14 wins in 18 games (77,8% success rate). The leader is Pinheiros, who also has four losses, but has two more games (16 wins in 20 games and an 80% success rate). Joinville, their opponent this Thursday, is in ninth place, with nine wins in 19 games (47,4%).
So far, Flamengo has the best attack in the competition, averaging 89,39 points, and is also the most efficient team: 105,28. The team has won two consecutive away games (Bauru and Liga Sorocabana).
"Maintaining a streak of positive results is very important for the team at this stage of the competition. We have two home games in the next rounds (Joinville and São José, on Saturday), and winning will be crucial to staying on track for the lead. Joinville is a strong, well-organized team that can surprise. We need to be alert and play a strong defense from the start of the game," says coach Gonzalo Garcia.
In the first round, in Joinville, Flamengo won: 88 x 65.
"These are two teams that really need a win: us to stay in the fight for the lead, them to seek a spot in the playoffs, and that will make the pace of the match very intense," predicts captain Marcelinho.
GAME OF THE STARS
Flamengo will have five representatives in the NBB All-Star Game on March 10th in Franca. Forward Marcelinho and center Caio Torres were called up to the NBB Brazil team. Argentine Kammerichs and American David Jackson will be on the NBB World team, which will be led by Flamengo coach Gonzalo Garcia.
