Flamengo faces Minas Gerais with an eye on the sole leadership of the NBB

After a thrilling victory over Franca last Tuesday (March 15.03), Flamengo returns to the court this Friday (March 18.03) in search of sole leadership of the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). To do so, the red-and-black team will have to overcome Minas Tênis, at 20 pm, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, and hope for a loss for Pinheiros to Paulistano, at the same time, in São Paulo. Flamengo and Pinheiros share the lead in the competition, with 17 wins in 23 games (73,91% success rate). In the head-to-head (first tiebreaker), however, the São Paulo team has the upper hand, having won both matches.
Tickets for this Friday's game cost R$10. Fans who come to the gym wearing a Flamengo shirt pay R$5. The match is part of the 11th round of the NBB return leg.
In the first round, in Belo Horizonte, Minas came out on top, winning 78 x 69. The Minas Gerais team is in ninth place in the overall standings, with 12 wins in 23 games (52,17% success rate).
"It will be another difficult game for us, as Minas has a strong team and any inattention could be fatal. We'll take advantage of the home advantage to impose our rhythm from the start," said point guard Hélio.
The match will be even more special for winger Marcelinho. He will complete 100 appearances for Flamengo in NBB competitions. Team captain Marcelinho is also the championship's top scorer, with 618 points so far (an average of 26,8 points per game).
