After winning the Liga das Américas for the first time, Flamengo secured its first-place finish in the Novo Basquete Brasil playoffs on Thursday night (March 27.03). The victory came after an 82-77 victory over Uberlândia and Paulistano's loss to Minas. In the Flamengo's match at Tijuca Tênis Clube, Marcelinho led all scorers with 25 points and led all assists with six; Shilton led all rebounds with six. 

The first quarter started off competitively. Uberlândia, counting on a strong performance from Léo, took the lead until Flamengo, led by Gegê and Marcelinho, reacted: the young point guard scored 10 points in the first quarter. Meyinsse also stood out, with four points and three rebounds. The American's dunk made it 17-12, prompting a timeout. With three-pointers from Gegê, Washam, and Marquinhos, the team finished the first quarter with a healthy 28-17 lead. In the second quarter, Marquinhos improved significantly, scoring 12 points. Maintaining their dominance, Flamengo went into halftime leading 44-29. 

In the third quarter, Meyinsse scored Flamengo's first seven points, including a 100% free throw shooting and a beautiful dunk. Throughout the rest of the quarter, Marcelinho's shots began to fall, and the point guard scored 12 points. At the end of the fourth quarter, Uberlândia reduced Flamengo's lead, and by the end of the match, the scoreboard was 82-77 for Flamengo. This result, combined with Paulistano's loss, secured the team's first-place playoff spot.

One of the team's offensive and defensive standouts, Jerome Meyinsse guarantees he has no shortage of drive to get on the court. "I'm going into my fourth year playing basketball (as a professional), and I already have the experience to know that I have to do everything I can for the team to win. So, in every game I play, I give my all. That's been working for me," said the American.
