Fla beats Vila Velha 96-77 and remains undefeated

Flamengo beat Vila Velha on Thursday night (31.01), at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, in the 18th round of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB). The Most Beloved achieved its 18th consecutive victory, surpassing its own record in the first season of the NBB, in 2008/2009.
With Kojo, Marcelinho, and Shilton absent, who suffered a left leg injury, the Rubro-Negro started with Marquinhos, Caio, Gegê, Benite, and Olivinha. Vila Velha opened the scoring as the match began, with a two-pointer from Daniel. Flamengo quickly responded with a three-pointer from Benite, followed by another two-pointer from Olivinha. But midway through the first quarter, the visiting team opened up a healthy lead: 17-11, which they soon extended to 23-13.
After Vila Velha opened up a 10-point lead, Flamengo fought back and closed the gap. End of the first quarter: Vila Velha leads Flamengo 30-25. Parker, with 12 points, led the first quarter. Olivinha and Benite each scored 9.

"Flamengo's fans are amazing. I've never seen the Tijuca (gymnasium) like this! I think this is our greatest recognition. It's great to see them singing the anthem and it's definitely an extra incentive," Duda enthused. "We're winning matches with the consistency of our intensity. They were there with us at the beginning, but I think our strong rhythm made the difference," analyzed coach José Neto.
Next Saturday, Flamengo hosts Minas Gerais at 19:30 pm on the same court. Members can now purchase tickets for this match at the Olympic Sports Department in Gávea.
