Flamengo returns to the court this Friday (03.02) to try to keep alive the dream of the second South American League championship. To do so, the red-black team needs to beat Atenas de Córdoba (ARG), at 20:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Obras Sanitárias gymnasium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the second round of Group A of the final hexagonal of the competition.
In the first round, Wednesday (01.02), Flamengo was defeated by Pinheiros by 74 x 59, and awaits the result of the match between Pinheiros and Atenas, still this Thursday (02.02), to know in what condition it will enter the court in the game against the Argentines. This Thursday (02.02), the team will not play.
In Group B are Obras Sanitárias (ARG), Malvin (URU) and Brasília. The top two in each group will advance to the semifinals on Saturday (04.02). The final will be on Sunday (05.02).
"It will be a test of fire, a very important game for our team, as we're on a three-game losing streak, and our last game (against Pinheiros) was our worst of the season. We have to overcome this moment," said coach Gonzalo Garcia, who analyzed the opponent: "Atenas is a very balanced team, plays very well with their centers and has two high-quality point guards," he added.
