Fla goes in search of another South American title
Rubro-Negros will represent Brazil in Group B of the 2010 South American League

Flamengo, champion of the South American League in the 08/09 season, will be seeking another title in the competition in the 10/11 season. This Thursday (17.06), the South American Basketball Association (ABASU) announced the dates and venues for the competition. The city of Franca will host the first quadrangular in October, and the team from Gávea will play, once again, in Santiago Del Estero, Argentina, where they won the title in 2009.
Paulo Chupeta's team is in the group with Quimsa, the home team that reached the last two finals of the tournament, Malvin of Uruguay, and a Chilean team yet to be determined. Group A includes Franca, Boca Juniors, Sporting (URU), and Mavort (EQU), while Group C, which will be played in Cúcuta (COL), includes the home team, Brazil's Brasília, Sunchales of Argentina, and Tiburones (VEN).
The top two teams from each group qualify for the final hexagonal, which runs from November 24th to 28th. In this phase, the teams will be divided into two groups, and the top two from each group will qualify for the semifinals in an Olympic crossover (first from one group against the second from the other). Flamengo debuts in the competition on October 28th, and also plays on the 29th and 30th.
