Flamengo reached its 10th victory in 12 games in NBB 4. With a great performance by foreigners Kammerichs and David Jackson, the Rubro-negro defeated Limeira 91 x 80, this Thursday (12.01), at Ginásio Vô Lucatto, in Limeira, and now awaits the result of the match between Uberlândia and Vila Velha, who face each other later this Thursday, to know its position in the overall classification. Before the start of the round, the Rio de Janeiro team was in second place in the tournament, while the Minas Gerais team was the leader.
With 23 points, American David Jackson led the way. Center Caio Torres had a double-double: 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kammerichs scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, and captain Marcelinho finished with 20 points. Flamengo returns to the court on Saturday (January 14.01) against Araraquara at 18 p.m. in Araraquara, São Paulo.
In the first half, despite having defensive issues, Flamengo performed well on offense, particularly with American David Jackson, who scored 19 points. The first quarter ended 24-19 for Flamengo, who went into halftime leading 45-41.
The third quarter was the most balanced, with both teams alternating in the lead, and ended tied at 65 x 65. In the last quarter, with the Argentine Kammerichs very good on the rebounds, Flamengo opened 85 x 78 and then it was just a matter of managing the advantage to close the game at 91 x 80.
The victory was celebrated by the red-blacks, especially because the team was coming off a defeat to Uberlândia, at home, in the last round.
"This victory was crucial for the team and was very important for us to stay at the top of the standings," explained Kammerichs, who remained on the court for the entire 40 minutes of play. "I don't know how I lasted so long, but I'm very happy to have helped the team," he added.
"It's important to win away from home, especially after a home loss. The NBB is a balanced championship, and beating a strong team like Limeira in their own arena is very good. The tendency is for this balance to continue until the end of the tournament. The team deserves congratulations today," said Marcelinho.
Flamengo started with: Hélio (10), Marcelinho (20), David Jackson (23), Kammerichs (12) and Caio Torres (19). Entered: Wagner (2), Fred (2), Duda (3) and Átila (-).
