Fla beats Goiânia 83-69

Mais Querido achieves second victory this season of the NBB

On Saturday night (16.11), Flamengo beat debutant Goiânia 83 to 69, on the court of Tijuca Tênis Clube, in the second match of the 2013/2014 season of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB). The Rubro-Negro defends the title of the competition.

In the first quarter, with 12 points scored by point guard Laprovittola, Flamengo closed out a 26-15 lead. In the second half, the team gave up ground to Goiânia and lost 8-19. Overall, Flamengo continued to lead by a narrow 35-33. The team rallied in the third quarter, closing the quarter at 23-21, with Olivinha scoring 8 points. In the final quarter, Flamengo increased its lead, closing the quarter at 25-15.

Laprovittola led the Red-Blacks with 29 points; power forward Olivinha led the team with 8 rebounds; and point guard Gegê led the team in assists with 7. Flamengo's signing Meyinsse made his debut with 10 points.

According to Gegê, the team is becoming to the liking of the coach, José Neto.

"An important victory to keep the momentum going. Winning is always good, and we're increasingly taking what Neto wants and applying it to the games," said the point guard.

Fla's next challenge in the NBB will be against Palmeiras, on the 21st, at 21 pm, at Ginásio Palestra Itália.
