Fla beats Uberlândia in overtime

In a thrilling match decided in overtime, Flamengo secured its first victory over Uberlândia in the NBB. On Saturday night (March 17.03), Flamengo defeated the Minas Gerais team 98-96 at the Sabiázinho gymnasium in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. More than that, it returned to third place in the overall standings, with 18 wins in 24 games (75% success rate). The team, however, still has one game in hand over the top two, Pinheiros and São José, both with 20 wins in 25 games (80% success rate).
Flamengo returns to the court next Saturday (24.03), against Brasília, in Brasília, in a game postponed because of the South American League. Afterwards, the team faces Limeira, Araraquara and Tijuca, all in Rio de Janeiro, ending its participation in the qualifying phase.
Marcelinho led all scorers with 30 points. David Jackson and Caio Torres also stood out, with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Kammerichs had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The red-and-black team led the score throughout the first half. In the first quarter, they took a 16-9 lead and closed the period at 29-21. At the end of the second quarter, Uberlândia tied the score at 45-45, but Flamengo went into halftime leading 52-47, with 18 points from Marcelinho and 11 from Jackson.
With a strong defense, Flamengo forced their opponents into mistakes. As a result, they remained unchallenged in the third quarter. After leading by 18 points (81-63), the Rio de Janeiro team closed the quarter at 81-68. In the final quarter, Flamengo made a few mistakes and allowed Uberlândia to tie the game at 90-90, sending the game into overtime.

"It was a game with everything basketball has to offer. A high-level, clean game, and I'm happy that we ultimately won. It was an important result, as beating a strong team like Uberlândia away from home really boosts our morale. Now we have to try to recover physically for the next match," said captain Marcelinho.
