FlaBasquete presents the squad and new uniforms in Gávea
Event at the adidas store at the club's headquarters brings together journalists, directors, coaching staff and athletes for the 2015/2016 season

On the morning of this Friday (25.09), Flamengo presented the new uniforms and the basketball squad for the 2015/2016 season. The vice-president of Olympic Sports, Alexandre Póvoa, and the director of the department, Marcelo Vido, met the press, in addition to the team's athletes, who wore the new Mantle and posed for the photographers. Flamengo's president, Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, was unable to be present, as he is traveling abroad.

"It was tough getting here, but I wouldn't trade the last three years for anything. Basketball has become a symbol of a winning mentality for us. All thanks to the organization, the competence of Vido, the coaching staff, the players, and the synergy with the fans."
The VP took the opportunity to call on the fans for the debut in the Carioca, Monday (28.09), the day in which the FlaBasquete celebrates one year since winning the World Cup.
"We started the year with a revamped team, keeping much of the core team. The players we lost went to Europe, the US, or Argentina. On October 17th, we're looking forward to the match against Orlando; we have to fill that Arena. We're the first club to host an NBA team in Brazil, after being the first invited to the American league's preseason."
Flamengo currently has three athletes called up to the U-17 national team. We want to improve our youth teams. We've also prepared a marketing plan to improve our performance. We're currently experiencing a difficult time for Brazilian basketball. The NBB was an oasis in Brazilian sports, in terms of breaking with the federation and its archaic model. We express our solidarity with Limeira, who withdrew from competing. Flamengo must be an active voice in changing the sport in the country.
"Even though it's a friendly, we want to win. We know how difficult it is to beat an NBA team. Flamengo's 2014 preseason game was practically at home, with many Flamengo fans in the gym and a record attendance for the Orlando preseason."
We have high expectations of having our multi-sport arena approved by the end of the year. We don't know if it will be for the Olympics, but rather for the next NBB. A 3,8-seat arena, in a prime location in Rio, NBA-caliber, built entirely with private funds. The two most difficult agencies for approval have already given the go-ahead: CET-Rio and Iphan.

With our limited resources, we'll evolve this area and enhance the spectacle, as we're learning from the NBA. We'll make ticket purchases easier. This season, we'll offer Season Tickets and Fla Passes for the entire NBA season. We'll offer friend and family combos, with two and four tickets. Additionally, we'll have activities at the games for fans and club members, as well as social initiatives with the team.
- The best-selling adidas basketball jersey in the world, outside the NBA, is Flamengo's, with 50 jerseys sold last season. Real Madrid sold 9.
- In October, we'll have two friendlies, the 4th and 5th, against Brasília. They're coming off a series of friendlies in Argentina. They're a great team, and it will be a big test for Flamengo.
