FlaBasquete lost its first match in this season's edition of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), on Tuesday night (1). The team faced Bauru, at Panela de Pressão, and started the match seeing the opponent take off on the scoreboard with a wide advantage. Without giving up, the team fought until the last seconds, managed to reduce the distance to just three points, but ended up being defeated by 82 to 77.

Gabriel Jaú was the team's biggest standout and top scorer, reaching a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Vildoza (17) and Cuello (15) also reached double-digit points.

The game

The first period wasn't a good one for FlaBasquete. The balls weren't falling, and the opponent opened up a large 15-point lead in the quarter, which ended 25-10 for the home team. In the second period, the Red-Blacks began to rally and close the gap on Bauru, but still trailed in the quarter.

After halftime, Gustavo De Conti's men returned determined to turn the tide. While the third quarter was nearly tied—Bauru won by just one point—Flamengo opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 lead. Halfway through the period, the overall lead was just three points between the teams, and Flamengo capitalized on their opponent's lackluster performance.

The final seconds were electrifying, with Mais Querido always staying alive and close to a comeback, but in the final stretch Bauru managed to score crucial baskets to stay ahead on the scoreboard and secure the victory.
