FlaBasquete returned to winning ways in the NBB 25/26. On Saturday afternoon (6), the red-black team passed with authority over Caxias do Sul, winning 91 to 66 at Maracanãzinho. The wide score reflects the absolute control of Mengão during practically the entire match, a result that puts the team back in the lead of the competition.
After the setback against Pinheiros, the team led by Sérgio Hernández showed an immediate recovery. Flamengo opened up a 15-point lead in the first quarter and increased that difference throughout the entire match.
Now with 12 wins and only 2 losses, FlaBasquete has 26 points and remains tied at the top of the table with Minas.
The game
The start of the Flamengo vs. Caxias do Sul game made the direction of the match clear. The Flamengo team accelerated from the jump ball and quickly built a comfortable lead. Gui Deodato was the star of the period, reaching 10 points in just seven minutes. The 13-point advantage allowed the coach to make several rotations at the end of the quarter.
With the starting five reunited in the second quarter, Flamengo maintained its strong pace and clear superiority. The team surpassed 50% shooting accuracy on all types of shots, kept the opponent below 20 points, and even increased the lead by another five points. The halftime whistle blew with the score at 47-27 for Flamengo.
Upon returning from the locker room, Flamengo experienced a brief period of inconsistency, especially after Dee Bost was ejected for a double technical foul. Even so, FlaBasquete won the quarter again (20-19) and entered the final period with a 67-46 lead.
The final quarter was marked by the presence of young Flamengo talents. Vitor Cauã, Doria, and Emanuel got playing time and earned applause from the crowd, with Manel's dunk being a highlight. In the final moments, Vitor scored his points, ensuring that all the FlaBasquete players left the game with points.
