FlaBasquete concludes preparations for the match against São Paulo in its NBB debut
A repeat of the last final, the match at Morumbi opens the 14th season of the competition
By Helena Petry - inPreparations are complete for the debut! This Saturday (23), at 16 pm, the ball goes up to Flamengo and São Paulo, at Morumbi (SP), in the opening of NBB 14. Finalists of the last edition, the two teams meet again completely revamped. Current champion, FlaBasquete seeks the eighth title and begins the journey with live broadcast on Fla TV.
With the renewed squad, Mais Querido seeks to integrate the newly arrived athletes into the rest of the group.
"I think this season, in particular, we're going to have a bit more difficulty. There were a lot of players coming from different teams. Some of our players are still there, but not many, and some of the young players are coming through from the youth academy. I think we're going to have a bit more difficulty, but we'll get going," said Gustavo De Conti, Pride of the Nation's coach.
One of FlaBasquete's new additions to the roster isn't a new face at Gávea. JP Batista returned to the Rubro-Negro after two seasons in France and one, the last one, playing for Minas. The center also spoke about tomorrow's matchup.
"We know São Paulo is a great team, but we're here to defend the title. The team is completely revamped and still getting to know each other. We're far from where we want to be, but we've been working hard every day. With each training session, we get to know each other better and improve. We'll go in strong against São Paulo and try to honor the Sacred Mantle," said the number 13.
FlaBasquete has three away matches in the NBB before the long-awaited reunion with the nation. On November 3rd and 5th, at Maracanãzinho, the Mais Querido will play in front of fans again in Rio de Janeiro. Follow @TimeFlamengo on social media for ticket information.
