On Thursday night (30.05), at 7:30 pm, the Flamengo basketball team takes to the court once again for the quarterfinals of the Novo Basquete Brasil 19 (NBB), against São José, at the Lineu de Moura gym. With the best-of-five series at 2 to 1 for Rubro-Negro, the current champions need only one more victory over the team from the interior of São Paulo to guarantee their place in the semifinals of the tournament.

In the first match, Flamengo was vastly superior, winning by 23 points (85 to 62) at home, at the Tijuca Tennis Club. With strong support from the fans, the players dictated the pace of the game and won every quarter, opening up a 13-point lead in the first period. In the second match, also at the Tijuca gymnasium, in a tough match against São José, the team was unable to secure the victory. But the players fought until the end, and the score was close: 82 to 76 for the opponent. In the first match of the series away from home, on Tuesday night (April 28.04), Flamengo rediscovered its best basketball and performed well on the court, scoring 86 to 68 on the scoreboard at the Lineu de Moura gymnasium.

"In the playoffs, you have to take it game by game. In the last match, we played very well defensively and were aware of the need for a more solid defense to win. On offense, the team managed to play well together and with good rotation. We go into this next match aware of the need to play even stronger, as we want to come away with another victory that will give us a place in the next phase of the competition," said coach José Neto.

The fourth - and perhaps decisive - match will not be in Rio de Janeiro, but Flamengo can count on the fans from the interior of São Paulo, essential for the last victory in São José dos Campos, and on the Nation spread across the country, who can watch the game on the Sportv channel.
