FlaBasquete debuts in the Champions League Americas in February
The first bubble of Group D, Pride of the Nation, will be at Maracanãzinho

On February 3rd, at Maracanãzinho, the Pride of the Nation begins its journey in the tournament against Peñarol of Uruguay. The Most Beloved, who are in Group D of the competition, also face Instituto Córdoba of Argentina on the 5th.
In a different format, the Champions League will feature 12 teams, divided into four groups. Each team will host a bubble in the qualifying phase, with clubs facing each other within their respective groups. The top-placed team from each group advances to the Final Four. The remaining group stage matches will be held between March 4th and 9th, and March 24th and 29th, while the decisive series will take place between April 8th and 13th.
Faced with a different scenario, coach Gustavo De Conti spoke about the circumstances and expectations for the championship.
"This season's Champions League will be different from anything we've played before. We're in a pandemic year, and things need to adapt, unfortunately. This doesn't always favor the best team, so we'll do everything we can to be the best in this new format as well. We had an excellent Champions League season last year, unfortunately we didn't win the title, but we'll try to adapt quickly. Our group is very strong with Instituto and Peñarol. We'll do everything we can to win the games, finish first, and reach the Final Four, which is one of our biggest goals this season," said the coach.
Titanes de Barranquilla (Colombia), Caballos de Coclé (Panama), Quimsa and San Lorenzo (Argentina), Franca and São Paulo (Brazil), Valdivia (Chile), Real Estelí (Nicaragua) and Aguada (Uruguay) are the other teams that will compete for the Americas title.
The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – BRB, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and State Incentive Law/State Secretariat of Sports, Leisure and Youth (Seelje) of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC).
