After an unforgettable victory in the 2014 season, the Pride of the Nation is looking to be crowned continental champion once again. Defending its League of the Americas (LDA) title, Flamengo debuts this Friday night (October 23.10) in the 2015 edition of the competition in Cancún, Mexico, where it will play the entire initial phase. The first opponent for coach José Neto's team will be Malvín, from Uruguay, at 22:15 pm, at the Poliforum Benito Juarez gymnasium. The match will be broadcast on SporTV channels.

Taking a short break from the New Basketball Brazil (NBB), Flamengo is now focusing on the competition that allows the champion to compete in the Intercontinental Cup, a tournament in which Flamengo is also the current champion. To win its second Copa América title, Flamengo is in peak physical shape this year, after completing a preseason training program during the season, playing the first NBB games.

Seeking to reach the level of play that earned them the nickname "champion of everything," the Pride of the Nation athletes come into this first match highly motivated, but aware of the challenges they may face. "We have high expectations for our debut in the League of the Americas. We've already had some training sessions here and are very motivated to start off on the right foot. We'll face a very tough opponent, one with tradition, quality, and a knack for playing in this type of tournament. Uruguayan teams are known for their physical play. We're preparing for this and have the quality to come away with a victory in this key match," said Rubro-Negro winger Olivinha.
