FlaBasquete ended this Friday (03.04), against Limeira, its participation in the qualifying phase of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). In a great game, the red-black team beat the São Paulo team by 86 to 70, playing in the last quarter what is perhaps its best basketball.

With a full house, Flamengo fans had more reasons to celebrate than just the Pride of the Nation's victory. During the quarter-final breaks, tickets for this Sunday's (April 05.04th) Fla Flu match and balls autographed by the world basketball champions were distributed. The Pride of the Nation opened the scoring early in the match with Olivinha, but despite the strong performance of the red-and-black power forward, the first quarter wasn't very positive for Flamengo. Unable to put their moves together, the "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) were overtaken and watched the team from Limeira close out the first quarter 16-11.

Knowing that the second half would have to be different, José Neto's men came out swinging in the second period. With Marquinhos and Herrmann inspired by Laprovittola's assists, the Red-Blacks quickly turned the score around and opened up a lead. In a high-octane quarter, the Pride of the Nation closed the half 27-16 and the first half 38-32.

But, as expected, the match between the second- and third-place teams in NBB 7 would be a thrilling affair until the final second. The third quarter saw two teams battle it out for the lead. Even though both teams had already qualified for the playoffs, Flamengo and Limeira were putting on a strong performance, worthy of a final. Despite strong performances from Meyinsse and Herrmann, it was the São Paulo team's turn to emerge victorious in the fourth quarter, winning 29-22.

The final period arrived, and with it the brilliance of the Pride of the Nation's multi-champion team. Felício's introduction, combined with Nicolas Laprovittola's steady play, transformed Flamengo on the court. Showing all their credentials, the Red-Blacks surged forward in the decisive moment of the match and, like a bulldozer, closed the quarter with an incredible 26-9 and the game at 86-70.

After the match, coach José Neto spoke about Orgulho da Nação's great performance against Limeira. "We showed today that our team is competitive and that we can, indeed, fight for the tournament title. That was exactly the impression we wanted to leave. Regardless of the game's value in terms of classification, Flamengo always goes out on the court to win, and today was no different. Now let's prepare for the playoffs, which is what really matters," he concluded.
