By - in

With a renewed team, the Mais Querido squad returned last Monday (23) aiming to compete in the first challenge of the 2018/2019 season: the State Basketball Championship. Anderson Varejão, Marquinhos, Olivinha and João Vitor remained from the previous team. The other players will make their debut for Rubro-Negro in the State Championship, which begins on August 18 and will feature the participation of ABIG/Niterói Basquete Clube, Botafogo, Vasco and Flamengo.

The red-and-black news begins with the arrival of coach Gustavo De Conti, NBB 10 champion with Paulistano, who arrives to lead the Mais Querido for two seasons. The new manager will count on the arrivals of point guards Franco Balbi, Davi Rossetto, and Kevin Crescenzi, shooting guard Deryk Ramos, forward Jhonatan, power forward Nesbitt, and the return of Rafael Mineiro to the club.

The Flamengo Regatas basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Thinkseg, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) through the decentralization of funds from the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the club.
